The crypto bot that runs on your computer
Run DCA, grid, moving-average, RSI, rebalancing or trailing-stop rules on Binance, Coinbase, Kraken or Bybit. Your API keys never leave your computer. Paper and testnet first, a kill switch and loss limits built in. Same engine as Backlark's backtests, so the bot does what the backtest did.
Software tool: you control your keys and trades. Trading involves risk of loss; past backtest results don't guarantee future results; not financial advice.
How it works
- Test the idea in Backlark (free): fees, slippage, out-of-sample and buy-and-hold on screen. Export it.
- Install Helmwick (Node.js 20+, then
npm installandnpm start). It opens a dashboard only your computer can reach. - Add a trade-only key with withdrawals off and an IP whitelist. Helmwick encrypts it with your passphrase.
- Run in paper, then testnet, read the "what it would do" log, then go live with small limits.
Safety, on by default
- Starts in paper mode; live needs a typed confirmation
- Max position value, max loss per day, max open orders
- Kill switch: one click (or one command) stops everything and cancels open orders
- A log of everything it did and would do
- Every order has a fixed client id: a network blip never doubles an order
- Crash recovery: unconfirmed orders are checked with the exchange on restart
- Order sizes rounded to each market's lot size and minimum order value
- Stays inside each exchange's rate limits; clock drift detected
Where you can use each exchange matters: Binance.com and Bybit do not serve US residents (use Binance.US, Coinbase or Kraken). The setup guide in the download lists the details, and says exactly what we tested on mocks and what you should test on a testnet.

Questions
Does CyberMax see my keys, balances or trades?
No. Helmwick runs on your computer; keys are encrypted there and only sent to your exchange. The only call to CyberMax is the licence check (your order code, at most once a day).
Why not 3Commas, Cryptohopper or Coinrule?
They run bots on their servers, which means storing your exchange API keys there, and they are priced for it: Cryptohopper Explorer $29 a month, Coinrule's first paid plan $29.99 a month, 3Commas from about $22 to $29 a month (checked 31 Oct 2026). Helmwick keeps keys on your computer and Pro is $19 a month. The trade-off: your computer has to be on (a small always-on PC or a server you rent works).
Does it need my computer on all the time?
It acts once per daily close (00:00 UTC). If the computer was off, Helmwick does not trade old signals late: it acts on the latest close when it starts again, and checks any order it was unsure about.
Will it make me money?
No one can promise that, and we don't. It follows your rules. Trading involves risk of loss; past backtest results don't guarantee future results. Start in paper or testnet mode.
What does it use to talk to exchanges?
ccxt, the widely used open-source exchange library (MIT licence), pinned to version 4.5.87.
