Track competitor prices on Shopify stores without a spreadsheet
Most small shops check competitor prices by opening tabs once a week and copying numbers into a sheet. It works until it doesn't: the week you skip is the week a competitor drops a price or runs out of stock.
Where a reliable price comes from
Shops tell Google their prices in a machine-readable block on each product page: schema.org Product and Offer data (usually JSON-LD). Most Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce and Magento themes publish it, because it powers price and stock in search results. Reading that block is far more reliable than scraping the visible page, which changes with every theme update.
These are real checks with Pricewick on 8 October 2026:
| Product page | Price | Stock | Read from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Allbirds: Men's Tree Runner | $100.00 USD | In stock | schema.org JSON-LD |
| Allbirds: Women's Tree Runner | $100.00 USD | In stock | schema.org JSON-LD |
| tentree: Peru Embroidered Llama Hoodie | $52.80 USD | In stock | schema.org JSON-LD |
| Brooklinen: Classic Core Sheet Set | not found | – | no product price in the page data |
The last row matters: some shops don't publish the price as structured data. A good tracker tells you that up front instead of guessing.

Pick the products that decide the sale
You do not need to track a whole catalogue. Pick the 5 to 50 products where customers compare you directly with one or two other shops: the same item, or the obvious substitute. Those are the prices that win or lose orders.
Decide before the alert arrives
- Check stock first. A drop to "out of stock" is a clearance or a sell-out, not a new price. A competitor running out is your moment to hold your price.
- Wait a day. Flash sales end. A lower price that holds on an in-stock item for a few days is the one to answer.
- Answer with more than price. A bundle, faster shipping or a free add-on often beats matching a cut.
Let a tracker do the checking
Pricewick watches the pages you add (daily on the free plan, twice a day on Seller, about every 6 hours on Pro), only where the shop's robots.txt allows, and sends the old price, the new price and the percent change to a webhook (Slack, Discord, Zapier, Make, n8n) or an RSS feed. Five products are free with no card and no email.
For comparison, Prisync Professional is $99/month for 100 products and Pricefy Starter $49/month for 100 SKUs (list prices checked 8 Oct 2026). Details: free competitor price tracker compared.
