Free website change monitor: get an alert when a web page changes

For: Marketers watching competitors' pricing and feature pages, recruiters watching careers pages, compliance and procurement staff watching policy, tender and status pages.

Paste a page address and Shiftmoor reads its text now. Watch it and you get the lines that were added or removed whenever the page changes, by webhook (Slack, Discord, Zapier, Make, n8n) or RSS. Three pages are free, checked daily, with no card and no email.

Check a page now (free)

Paste any public page. You see the text Shiftmoor reads, its size and a fingerprint that changes when the text changes. 5 free checks a day.

How to monitor a web page for changes

Pick the exact page, not the home page: the pricing page, the careers page, the policy or tender page. A narrow page gives you alerts that mean something.

Run the free check above. If it shows the text you care about, Shiftmoor can watch it. If the site answers 403 or shows an access notice, it blocks automated readers; use the site's own alerts or API instead.

Watch the page. Shiftmoor compares the text on each check and keeps the lines added and removed, so an alert says what changed, not just that something did.

Send alerts to a webhook (Slack, Discord, Zapier, Make, n8n) or read them as RSS.

How to cut false alerts

Most noise comes from dates, counters and rotating banners. Watching text instead of screenshots already removes layout and ad changes. Pick pages whose main text changes only when something real happens, and keep one watch per page you care about.

Check frequency matters less than people think: daily is enough for pricing, policies and job listings; every 6 hours (Pro) suits tender and status pages.

Shiftmoor vs the alternatives

Why teams pick Shiftmoor

FAQ

Is there a free website change monitor?

Yes. Shiftmoor watches 3 pages free, checked daily. Visualping, Distill and ChangeTower also have free tiers with their own limits (see the table).

Does Shiftmoor take screenshots?

No. It compares the page text, which avoids most false alerts from layout and ads. If you need visual diffs, Visualping and Distill offer them.

How often are pages checked?

Daily on Free and Starter, about every 6 hours on Pro.

Why does a page show HTTP 403?

That site blocks automated readers. Shiftmoor does not get around blocks; use the site's own alerts or API.

Is there an API?

Yes: GET /api/check?url= returns the text summary as JSON (5 a day free; more with a key).
