Find expiring federal contracts by NAICS before the recompete is posted
A contract that ends in 6 to 18 months is the next recompete. Awardtide lists federal contracts by their current end date, with the agency, the incumbent, the potential value and the set-aside, so a small contractor can start capture work before the solicitation appears. The search and the first 10 matches of any filter are free.

Source: Awardtide /api/match?months=6, data built from USAspending.gov on 3 Oct 2026 (44,905 contracts). Potential value is the award's total potential value including options, not what is left to spend. In 541512 alone, 116 of the 1,077 were set aside for small businesses (all small-business set-aside types).
How to find recompetes in your NAICS code
Start with your primary NAICS code and a 6-month window. Contracts whose current period ends soon either get an option exercised, an extension, or a new solicitation; the ones with no options left are the strongest recompete candidates.
Narrow by set-aside. If you are a small business, SDVOSB, WOSB or 8(a) firm, filter to contracts that were set aside for that group last time: agencies often keep the same set-aside on the follow-on.
Read the incumbent and the agency office. A large incumbent on a small-business set-aside may have outgrown the size standard; an office that buys the same service every few years is a relationship to start now.
Open the USAspending link on each row to check the award history and the options, then add the agency to your capture plan before the Sources Sought notice appears.
Why 6 to 18 months ahead
By the time a solicitation is posted on SAM.gov, the agency has usually written its requirements and met the vendors who asked early. Finding the contract by its end date gives you the months before that, when a capability brief and a conversation with the contracting office still change the outcome.

FAQ
How do I find federal contracts that are expiring?
Search awards by their current end date. Awardtide does that on USAspending data: pick a NAICS code and a 3, 6 or 12-month window and you get every contract ending in it, soonest first.
What is a recompete?
A new competition for work that an incumbent already does, usually when a contract reaches the end of its period of performance and has no options left.
Where does the data come from?
USAspending.gov contract awards (built 3 Oct 2026). Each row links to its official USAspending record.
Is the search free?
Yes: the search, the count and the first 10 matches of every filter are free. Radar Pro ($29/month) shows every row and adds saved filters, weekly feeds and CSV.
Does it include SAM.gov opportunities?
No. Awardtide tracks awarded contracts that are ending, which is earlier than the SAM.gov notice. Use SAM.gov for posted solicitations.
