A habit tracker in Google Sheets that counts your streak

Updated 2026-10-17 · Planners and templates · by CyberMax

Short answer

Put the days of the month across row 1 and one checkbox per day in row 2 (Insert > Checkbox). In row 3, a running count adds 1 when the day is checked and resets to 0 when it isn't: B3 =IF(B2,1,0), C3 =IF(C2,B3+1,0), dragged right. The number under today is your current streak and =MAX(B3:AF3) is your best.

Copy-paste code

One habit per pair of rows

B3:            =IF(B2, 1, 0)
C3:            =IF(C2, B3 + 1, 0)      then drag C3 right to AF3
Best streak:   =MAX(B3:AF3)
Done this month: =COUNTIF(B2:AF2, TRUE)
Completion %:  =COUNTIF(B2:AF2, TRUE) / DAY(TODAY())

Good to know

Start with three habits at most, each with a tiny version that counts on bad days (one page of reading, a 10-minute walk).

Conditional formatting (green when TRUE) makes the month readable at a glance.
