What are do-not-drive and park-outside recall advisories?
Flags on the most dangerous recalls: owners are told not to drive the vehicle until it is repaired, or to park it outside and away from buildings because of fire risk.
These advisories appear on the recall record and in NHTSA's recall data, and the owner letter repeats them. They are rare compared with all recalls, so any VIN that matches one should be fixed before the vehicle is used again.
How often it happens
In NHTSA's recall data from 2025-10-08 to 2026-10-05, 25 of 957 vehicle recall campaigns carried a do-not-drive advisory and 23 a park-outside advisory. See them by make on the recall pages.
