What is clopening?
Scheduling the same person to close one night and open the next morning, leaving a short rest between shifts.
A close at 11 pm and an open at 6 am leaves 7 hours, including the commute. Several US cities and states have fair workweek (predictive scheduling) laws that set a minimum rest between shifts for covered employers or require extra pay when it is shorter, so check your local rule.
A schedule tool that warns when the gap is below your own minimum catches these before the rota is posted.
