Hotel front desk schedule template: 24/7 cover with overnight audit
A front desk never closes. Three 8-hour shifts cover the day, the night auditor holds the overnight, and the busiest hours (afternoon check-in) need a second person. Here is a small hotel's week.
What matters for hotels
Three shifts make the day
Morning (7–15), evening (15–23) and night audit (23–7) cover 24 hours. Coverage by hour shows any hour with nobody at the desk.
Double up at check-in
A mid shift over the afternoon check-in peak gives two at the desk when it matters; coverage by hour shows the peak.
Evening to morning is a short turnaround
An evening shift ending at 23:00 followed by a 7:00 morning shift is only 8 hours of rest. Set your minimum and let the schedule flag it.
Worked example
A 24/7 front desk with night audit and an afternoon check-in peak shift, minimum rest 10 hours, overtime after 40 hours at 1.5×. Week of 5 - 11 Oct 2026.
