Turn a salary into an hourly or contractor rate in one step

For: staffing

Candidates compare an hourly contract against a salaried offer. Put both on the same footing in seconds, including overtime, unpaid weeks and what a contractor must charge to match a salary.

How staffing teams use Salary ↔ Hourly Calculator

  1. Enter the salary on offer to get the hourly, weekly and monthly equivalents.
  2. For hourly roles, add overtime hours and the multiplier (for example 1.5x) and any unpaid weeks.
  3. Use the freelance tab to show the hourly and day rate a contractor needs to match a salary after their own costs.
  4. Share the link with the candidate or hiring manager.

In the app's own test case, a target salary of 85,000 with self-employment tax, health cover, retirement, expenses and a 10% buffer over 1,288 billable hours needs about 90 an hour, 2.2 times the employee rate.
