Small fleets: one IFTA return from every truck's miles and fuel
A small fleet files one IFTA return using fleet MPG, but still wants to know which trucks burn the most. Fuelfern does both: the return from fleet totals and a By unit tab with each truck's MPG and fuel cost per mile.
How logistics teams use Fuelfern
- Give each truck a unit number; drivers or dispatch add trip legs and fuel per unit.
- Check the By unit tab monthly for a truck whose MPG drops.
- At quarter end, paste rates and review the dashboard's data checks.
- Copy the Return totals to the base jurisdiction's return; keep the file with your IFTA records.
The licence covers one carrier (one IFTA licence). A bookkeeper preparing returns for several carriers needs a copy per carrier.
Example file: 2 trucks, one made-up quarter (Q3 2026), 193 trip legs, 48 fuel buys
| Jurisdiction | Miles | Gallons bought |
|---|---|---|
| Pennsylvania | 7,870 | 946 |
| Maryland | 7,428 | 0 |
| Ohio | 5,739 | 1,530 |
| Indiana | 5,381 | 1,432 |
| New Jersey | 4,601 | 1,186 |

FAQ
Can several people enter data?
Yes, if you keep the file in Google Sheets and share it within your company.
Why not a TMS?
A TMS such as TenTrucks ($145/month for up to 5 trucks) does dispatch and billing too. If you only need IFTA, Fuelfern is $19 once.
