FAQ
How many tiles do I need for a 10x12 floor?
For a 10 × 12 ft kitchen (12 × 24 in tiles, 1/8 in grout joint, 10% waste, 8 tiles per box): tile area 120 sq ft; tiles 65 tiles; tile boxes 9 boxes; thinset 2 bags. Change any input above for your own job.
Does the tile count include the grout joint?
Yes. Each tile is counted with its share of the grout joint, which slightly lowers the tile count compared with ignoring the joint.
How much extra tile should I buy?
The calculator starts at 10% waste. Patterned layouts, diagonal lays and large-format tiles that need many cuts often need 15% or more.
