Own your browser game and sell it: a complete HTML5 starter kit

For: Creators moving an AI-made prototype to a game they own, hobbyist JavaScript developers, and indie web game developers and game-dev clubs.

Shipfern is a complete, playable HTML5 game you rename, re-skin and fill with your own levels: 20 solver-checked levels, a daily puzzle with streaks, share cards with "beat my score" links, an installable offline PWA and synthesized sounds. Monetisation is built in: a Stripe Payment Link unlock confirmed by your own Cloudflare Worker, and portal builds for Poki, CrazyGames and GameDistribution. Plain JavaScript, no runtime dependencies, 21 unit tests and 5 browser test groups.

Why teams pick Shipfern

How it works

  1. Play the sample, then run node tools/serve.mjs locally.
  2. Change the name, price and levels in config.js and levels.js.
  3. Create a Stripe Payment Link, deploy the Worker on your free Cloudflare account, and publish; run build_portals.py for portal zips.

FAQ

Why not a CodeCanyon template like Fruit Tumble?

Its Regular licence ($21) covers one end product that players are not charged for; charging players needs the Extended licence ($80). Shipfern is $49 for unlimited games of your own, including paid unlocks, with the unlock server included.

Why not the Phaser Game Dev Bundle?

At $19 it gives 10 Phaser games to learn from and reskin. Shipfern is one complete game built to be sold: payments, portal builds, PWA, daily challenge, tests and docs.

What does the licence allow?

From Shipfern's LICENSE.txt: "Build, publish and sell an unlimited number of your own games made with the kit, on any website, store or game portal, including commercial games, games with ads and games with paid unlocks", and build games for clients. Not allowed: reselling or sharing the kit or its source "as a template, starter kit, boilerplate", or releasing the sample game "Glint Glide" itself as your game.

Do I need to know JavaScript?

Basic JavaScript helps. Everything you are expected to change is in config.js and levels.js, and the docs cover quickstart, monetising, porting from an AI prototype and a launch checklist. Requires Node.js 20+; Python 3.8+ for portal builds.

What are the limits?

It is a template, not an engine: the sample is a grid puzzle game, so other genres mean rewriting the game rules. Stripe and Cloudflare accounts are yours to set up, and their terms apply.
